Daiso to Close Kallang Wave Mall Outlet Amid Revamp
Daiso will shutter its Kallang Wave Mall outlet as the shopping centre undergoes a major revamp. The Japanese retailer announced the closure on August 7, stating that the outlet's last day of business will be August 16, 2026.
"It is with deepest regret to inform you that Daiso Kallang Wave Mall will cease its operations from Aug 17 onwards," the retailer said in its announcement.
Closure Details
Daiso did not disclose specific reasons for the closure but mentioned that a brand-new outlet will open sometime in September 2026. The location and exact opening date of the new store were not announced.
"While we are bidding farewell to this outlet, our journey doesn't end here," the post read. Daiso thanked customers for their support and encouraged them to visit nearby outlets at Kallang Bahru, Capitol Singapore and Marina Square after the closure.
Fourth Closure This Year
This is Daiso's fourth store closure in 2026. The retail chain shuttered its Sembawang Shopping Centre and 100AM outlets in April and January respectively, and relocated its Tampines 1 outlet to Century Square after 14 years of operations.
After the closure of the Kallang Wave Mall outlet, Daiso will have a total of 32 outlets remaining in Singapore.
Kallang Wave Mall Revamp
Kallang Wave Mall is currently undergoing a major revamp slated for completion in 2028. In addition to new retail options, future visitors will be able to enjoy new and improved sports facilities in the mall, including one of Southeast Asia's tallest indoor climbing walls.
