We had a very bad TCM experience with
Kin Teck Tong TCM. We went there for our neck & body pain issues and ended up getting more body pain in the process. Dr Kwak attended to us and asked us to go for a massage followed by scraping and cupping to fix our pain. Particularly for me for the scraping process the therapist used a piece of buffalo horn to scrape on my upper shoulders and back. It was absolutely not a pleasant experience and I told the therapist to stop, in spite of that the therapist continued to scrape due to lack of communication (she wasn’t well versed in English). I was shocked to see when my skin turned red and black. My skin felt ultra-sensitive and raw. It was a strange experience and one I will never repeat. Hope they inform their patients of the entire process and its impact before recommending these types of treatments.

The counter staff are very helpful. I was looking for Qiu Zongshang 医師 to treat my neck and lower back issue. Qiu 医師 Qiu was recommended by a friend who also visited KTT for the same problem. Apparently he is not always located at a fixed branch. I had to call branch by branch to look for him, then I was put off by the 2 staff attitude of 2 branches who claimed they won’t know where he is located. Finally I called Kallang Wave branch, they found from their system and was able to tell me where and when he is available. Thank you to the staff at Kallang Wave for your professional service!

Had a bad stiff neck and tight shoulder since 2018. (Couldn’t turn my head more than 50 degrees without pain)
In 2 sessions, I regained 90% mobility in turning my head to the left and right (turning left 90 degrees no pain, turning right 70-80 degrees no pain), allowing me to check blind spot without wincing while driving!
Shout out to Ella, the therapist for such great efficiency in fixing my neck!
Therapy sessions covered tui na, ba guan and this electric therapy thing (can’t remember the name) 10/10 will go again.

It was my 4th visit yesterday (9th Oct at Sports Hub)
1 week prior, I called to make appointment for Tui Na (ONLY) - the receptionist suggested I should do 20 mins acupuncture, followed by Tui Na. I mentioned that it is my 1st TIME EVER doing Acupuncture and shouldn't the Physician see and assess my condition 1st? Receptionist said should be okay because she has done it before.
When I was there yesterday, during my 15-mins consultation with the physician, 1 receptionist called to inform the physician that I am doing 20 mins acupuncture, then, another receptionist interrupted my consultation and told the physician I still have another 40 mins Tui Na to do.
- shouldn't the physician be ALLOWED TO DECIDE IN HER PROFESSIONAL CAPACITY?
- Normally a Chinese Physician (or Sinseh) will gently press the affected area to assess the pain and decide what's best for the patient. This physician didn't do that, instead asked me if I wanted medication for digestive problems after checking my tongue. What?!
- I even told the physician I've never done acupuncture, is it even necessary? HOW WILL IT WORK FOR ME? No guidance even.
- I could tell the physician was pressured by the 2 receptionist, and wasn't able to decide what's best for me.
While doing acupuncture, the physician was interrupted twice! While she was inserting the needles, someone even called for her and she said "wait, I'm attending to this patient".
After making payment, I didn't feel comfortable and asked to speak to the physician to check on my condition, if any follow-ups are still needed, what kind of pain, and how can I manage the pain better. NONE! This aunty receptionist was so rude and even told me "can't you see I only have time now and the physician is attending to another patient?" Before I left, another staff even told me the physician will call me. What a joke!
If it is compulsory for the physician to see us (hence, charge us $21), then make sure the physician administer a proper and HOLISTIC treatment for the patient.
You can hard sell manicure, hair and facial treatment, but not where TCM medicine is involved. No wonder a close friend of mine shared recently she stopped going to KTT because they do a lot of hard-selling.
I must say the Tui Na therapist were good, but I would look for other places where the physician can do proper consultation (without being pressured by receptionist staffs having to meet sales targets), assess my condition and advise on a treatment suitable for me, and how to manage the pain post-treatment.

Dr Xu is very knowledgeable, patient, thorough in her explanations, and has a very reassuring and caring bedside manner as well! Highly recommended! Consulted for my sports-related injury and Dr Xu was able to pinpoint trouble areas that western physio didn't quite fully resolve. Did tuina, 3d microwave therapy, accupuncture, all went smoothly without issue 👍

Long post ahead but worth a read especially if you are a first timer.
I didn’t have a good first time experience. The attending physician was Dr Zhao. What I didn’t like was he didn’t proactively explain after checking the tongue and pulse. I had pulled muscle. Without assessing my injury, he prescribed acupuncture and tuina without sharing the rationale why these therapies could help. By default he charged $48 for his acupuncture which I felt I wasted my money. It would be ideal to share the picture as the needle didn’t seem to puncture into the meridian but merely on the surface. He even forgot to remove one of the needles!
Pertaining to the first trial, essentially we are having a free 1st time consultation in a simpler term. Please be aware that tuina was stated at $37 for 20 minutes. However their default practice is 40 minutes. So if you are having sports injury, be prepared to pay $38 for 1st trial and top up at least $37 for another 20-minute of tuina. Not forgetting, the acupuncture that didn’t worth paying for!
I actually walked out feeling a little cheated. My first bill turned out to be $160. The consultation and acupuncture are seriously not worth paying for.
The only consolation was tuina by Li Min. I think he is knowledgeable. However they should give female patient consent if attended by a male therapist. There was also no accompaniment by female colleague at the point of time.
Will I return? Probably no. But if needed be, it will be purely for tuina.
