Encik Tan at Kallang Wave Mall pioneered halal hawker-style dining in Singapore's Sports Hub district, serving authentic local flavors in an air-conditioned comfort setting that bridges traditional street food culture with modern mall convenience. Operating daily from 10:30am to 9pm, this MUIS halal-certified restaurant offers budget-conscious diners and families access to beloved Singaporean dishes without compromising on authenticity or dietary requirements. As the first outlet of the Encik Tan brand, this location has established itself as the go-to destination for halal local cuisine among the diverse Sports Hub community and tourists seeking genuine hawker fare.
The menu showcases an extensive selection of beloved local dishes at remarkably affordable prices, including their excellent Wonton Noodles () featuring tender, tasty wantons with perfectly cooked noodles, satisfying Chicken Cutlet Rice Sets (.30-) with sunny-side-up eggs and curry sauce, and flavorful Nonya-style Laksa () with just the right spice level. Additional crowd-pleasers include fried carrot cake (), oyster omelet (), po piah (.50), fish ball noodles (), traditional kaya toast sets with eggs and coffee (.70), and refreshing Penang chendol (.50), ensuring something for every palate and budget.
While customer experiences vary, Encik Tan consistently delivers value through generous portions and nostalgic flavors that evoke Singapore's rich hawker heritage in a clean, comfortable environment. The restaurant's commitment to halal certification opens doors for Muslim diners and families seeking authentic local cuisine, while its strategic location within Kallang Wave Mall makes it accessible to sports fans, shoppers, and tourists exploring Singapore's eastern region. Despite mixed reviews regarding consistency, Encik Tan remains a practical choice for those craving affordable, halal-certified local food in an air-conditioned setting that respects both tradition and modern dining preferences.
Visited this outlet so many times and is always been the same shitty attitude they have. We ordered with the uncle and he assume we taking away but when we said eating here he give us attitude. Always saying that their products is sold out or left abit when is not even closing hours. Please recruit someone who at least knows basic customer service thank you.

Spacious n clean, not noisy coz it's off-peak. Ordered a dry premium minced meat noodles $7 n kopi tarik $1+ (I forgot). Fried wanton is stale. Liked d hotate n fried fish (扁鱼) added for premium. Aunty asked some questions to confirm my order of mee kia +chilli +vinegar -spring onion. She explained no ketchup is added if chilli is opted in. She double confirmed if vinegar is ok. She omitted d spring onion fr my bowl of soup but added a big handful into my bowl of noodles?! Kopi tarik is just normal kopi. No foam. n yes, it's made by d v fierce staff who doesn't smile even when I smile at her.

Saw the "must try" menu item ie Fried Fish Set and gave it a try.
To my dismay, the actual dish is so different from the photo and my expectation.
Except for the curry, veg and rice is ok, the fish was fried "battered" fish (not the homely pan fried which was also shown on photo.
The fried egg was misrepresented too instead of a sunny side up as illustrated.
Please refer to my photos and you will understand.
I guess it's the cook laziness to do the proper way it was meant to be.
Even the simple teh o is tasteless.
What a disappointing lunch.

Am here on 14th march 2025. Young Cashier lady for no reason, taking orders with a very bad attitude. It’s just an order and ask for bill amount situation since the counter don’t display the amount for us who are using capital pay. Drinks like kopi c and tea ice was bad as well made by same cashier as compared to last time made by an uncle (which is much nicer).
On the other hand, the aunty who is cooking noodles and laksa is friendly and nice. They should learn from her!

Always eat at this shop and decided to give my review as i observed the standard has dropped.
The portion of the noodle become lesser, and I think they have changed the brand for MEE GIA, cos taste became more plastic.
I ordered the fish curry rice set + chicken cutlet. They gave me the fish tail which has very little or close to no fish meat. And the batter is so thick so that it looks huge but inside is empty. Looking at their picture display and the actual item, it was drastically different.
Seriously, they need to buck up their standard.

Assuming it was the manager since she's wearing red, she was shouting at us when we couldn't hear her properly that the items was unavailable since her English isn't fluent.
Only stating that a specific noodle is available and we're like it's alright and chose a menu. Then she shouts at us to say don't have.
Quite rude I would say. Not a customer service you would expect. Please do something about it since it's not a staff but someone who holds a higher position. Where's the professionalism at?

Queue was a bit long at that time since there was an event in the stadium, especally for noodle menu.
We've ordered Fishball Noodle, Chicken Curry Rice, and Teh Tarik. Overall taste was a bit bland, including the teh tarik. The curry actually quite tasty, but I think they should put more curry sauce there. I heard that their Laksa is good enough, but didn't manage to try it.
Overall it is a value-for-money option, the price is affordable with fulfilling portion. And they're halal certified too!

I've tried the Chicken curry set with ice bandung.
Taste, 4/5: Normal average chicken curry, the spices is not to strong and the chicken is not too flavorful, but worth to try if you passing by the restaurant.
Presentation, 4/5 : Very appetizing
Texture, 4/5: The chicken is not too tender, not that crunchy outside, the rice is normal not too mushy and not too dry.
Location, 5/5: Inside Kallang wave mall, accessible with Stadium MRT
Service, 4/5: fast and efficient service
Type: Singaporean food.
Price: Very cheap as the same as hawker food price even it's inside a mall
Atmosphere/Ambience: modern place and bit crowded.
Notes:
Halal food

I had the most delightful experience at the noodle counter yesterday, all thanks to the wonderful lady who served me. From the moment I approached the counter, her incredibly polite and warm demeanor instantly made me feel welcome. It's rare to come across someone who genuinely cares about customer service, but she went above and beyond.
Not only was she attentive and courteous, but the noodles she prepared were absolutely delicious. Her dedication to her work and her customers truly shines through, and she has the ability to brighten anyone's day with her positive attitude. It's hard to find such exceptional staff in Singapore nowadays, and I am extremely touched by her service. I would highly recommend anyone to visit just for the experience of being served by her.

Good food and affordable price. This is what people wait for, thus long queue will be formed automatically.
Tried fishball noodle set and chicken meatball noodle both turn out very good. Price range $4-6. Add $1 for lime juice.
Noodle is soft, taste very nice. Definitely willl come back. Highly recommended!!

Encik Tan serves a variety of hawker food such as fishball noodle, wonton noodle, laksa, and rice set option. This outlet is located at Kallang Wave Mall. We had lunch here before attending a concert in National Stadium Singapore. The dishes for rice set are already cooked, so you will directly get your order after the payment.
I tried Chicken Cutlet Set (SGD 4,3). It's a plateful of warm rice, chicken cutlets, sunny side up egg, and vegetables, topped with curry sauce. Overall, the food tastes good with generous portion and very affordable price. A great option if you're looking for halal food since they already got MUIS halal certificate.

Absolutely love their chicken cutlet set! i personally call this the halal version of the famous Scissors Cut Curry Rice.
a couple of feedbacks is that the chick cutlet and curry portions are inconsistent. sometimes they give you a little bit more chicken, sometimes less. sometimes topped with generous amount of curry and sometimes not.
even when i told the staff to give me more curry, they wouldn’t do so… maybe they didn’t hear me?
anyway, good flavourful and tasty. highly recommended!

Prices here are reasonable and maybe cheaper than the food court. Food and drinks taste good.
