I feel quite obligated to leave a review because of its low rating lol. I was originally skeptical and almost detoured after seeing the rating. But being long time patrons of the PLQ outlet with no disappointment we decided to give it a shot. Other than being extra peppery, the meat was tender and soup was flavourful. This isn’t a 2.6 star! Wish I took a photo of our meal

Went to Kallang Wave to dinner sometime back.
For dinner, ended up at Old Street Bak Kut The.
We were early enough and the place wasn't crowded.
Sat at a table quite close to the kitchen and near where they put the chili and cutlery.
I decided to take a picture of their teapots.
Then take some chili back to my table.
We ordered hot and cold soya bean milk.
The plastic cup for the cold drink had a chip. So we asked to change it.
We had a portion of dough fritter.
Then a lean pork soup, a mushroom soup and tau pok to go with rice. Forgot to take picture of the receipt.

I was disappointed with the experience. When the server served our food onto our table, a little roach crawled out (from the tray or food, not sure, too fast) onto our table. I said "yee", and the server quickly smack to kill it, and wiped it away.
For this kind of situation, I expected the server to inform her Supervisor or manager about this incident. However, I believed she did not as nobody came out to show their concern to the customer to check if customers are fine or needed any assistance. I believed this should been trained to the staffs.
I did not want to make a fuss on the spot but I hope that the management should look into this. It happened on 30 Mar, around 11+am, sports hub outlet.
For the food, the quality dropped dramatically. Especially the dry bak guk teh which i always like in the past. It's no longer the same. It was dry and not umani anymore. The bak guk teh soup was not so tasty like before too. The minced pork noodle was very very oily. Sigh... not going back again anymore.

Prices here are quite steep for the quality served. Paid about $70 for 2 pax.
The dried bak kut teh here is their signature, got to say it was so much better than their soup one. The dried bak kut teh has that strong wok hei taste and the charred parts in the clay pot is so good. The soup BKT is neither peppery nor herbal, sadly.
The side dishes like the pig intestines was also a missed… too thick and does not taste very clean.
The you tiao and preserved vegetables is otherwise alright.
Came here before dinner crowd at around 5 pm and this place was almost empty 😅

Was at this outlet for a dinner gathering with 4 of my friends on 31 May this year. Chose this outlet as we felt that it will be less crowded, we can chat and eat at our comfort. It also came as a pleasant surprise to us that the outlet had a promotion. For orders above $100 (less beverages and gst), we got to enjoy free flow of beer!
Unlike what I read from the review of poor service at this outlet, the service staff were friendly, patient and helpful then especially when my friend was clarifying the details of the promotion. (maybe they have changed out the staff, thus the service is standards did improve.)

Disappointing Experience. Tough Meat & Confusing Payment Process
Had high hopes for Old Street Bak Kut Teh, but unfortunately, it was a letdown. The meat was gamey and tough, making it hard to enjoy. The dry Bak Kut Teh was the biggest disappointment. The texture was so rough, it felt like I was chewing on tree bark. To make things worse, the you tiao was stale and old, lacking the usual crispiness or freshness.
Service/ Ordering process was also rather confusing. We ordered from our seats, but was wondering why the food took a while to arrive. After waiting for 4-5 minutes, we were suddenly told to make payment at the counter, on then the food was served. It wasn’t clear to me whether we were supposed to pay first or after eating, which made the process of ordering from our seats via our phone unnecessary😅.
Overall, the main issue I had was with the food quality. I personally think the issue was down to how the meat is cooked and chopped. The texture just doesn’t work well when eaten. I may be no food expert but unfortunately, it made the whole meal quite unpleasant.

Attracted by the porridge in their menu so decided to give this bak kut teh place a try.
The porridge is so flavourful and sweet and we couldn't have enough, looks little but to our surprised it could actually feed two and is very filling.
Didnt order bak kut teh but love the soup from the pig stomach soup we ordered. Also had the pork trotters which was also a decent serving for the price, am also glad that it's really well braised and tender, but would love for it to have more fatty parts and will see if im able to make the request the next time we're there.
Will definitely return again.

The set meal $15 (pork rib soup, rice, you tiao, beancurd) was very delicious and definitely eat till you're full. The sauces and soup was free flow, you tiao was a large serving and crispy! Good service and overall a more affordable brand than popular ones! Very good try~

Great food and service here for my wife, toddler and I last night. If you like the soup with more pepper then this is the perfect place; the soup refills are free too and the staff were always coming forward to offer. The meat of the pork ribs is fresh and slides off the bone too 😋 Staff are all friendly. Ideally the floor would be a little cleaner but overall still quite okay for our little one. Value for money too especially the set meals. Thanks! 🙏🏻
